This is the second installment in the FIG Mystery series, by Barbara Casey. This novel followed Dara’s journey to NYC in search of her birth mother who abandoned her long ago. She is accompanied by her best friends, and, of course, Carolina.Overall I enjoyed the novel. I like the change of character perspectives and it adds to the suspense. Hearing each intellectual genius’s POV extenuates their unique abilities and helps the reader understand how their mind helps them solve problems, whether it’s through art or mathematics. Their trip to NYC was fun to read about, and path they took to find Dara’s mother was well rewarded.
It was enjoyable to hear about Dara’s personal growth along this journey, and I had happy to read that she was more content with her past after the experience. The descriptions throughout the book allow readers to really understand how the FIGs are feeling, whether it’s about their intellectual talents, or not fitting in with everyone else at Wood Rose.
